Sneaky Snake.........

Sneaky snake goes dancing, wiggling, and hissing. Sneaky goes dancing, giggling and hissing. I don’t like ole sneaky snake. He laughs too much you see. When he goes wiggling through the grass it tickles his underneath. I know, I know I am telling my age by singing an old Tom T. Hall song. But that is the way I felt this morning when I was met by ole sneaky snake. Elvis and I was out for our morning walk when a rat came flying out of the corn field down the dirt road. My first reaction was Yuck, a rat, but then I thought oh my, he is running from something, probably a snake! I looked around didn’t see anything so I proceeded. As we go along I get distracted singing and walking and forgot all about the warning from the rat. Yes sometimes God will allow a Rat to warn you. I had forgotten that there must have been something that startled the rat enough to cause him to run out in front of a loud mouth woman singing and her dog. So I shouldn’t have been surprised when I took a few more steps and there he laid! Ole Sneaky Snake! Of course he was probably more upset than I, seeing that his breakfast just ran away. My biggest fear was that Elvis was going to get it and sling it through the air like my old dog “Bear” use to do. Bear would always bring me gifts that he would catch. Mice, birds, opossum and yes snakes. I do have a funny story about Bear and an opossum. Lets just say I learned why they are called opossum and I will blog that story later. But now as far as snakes would go he would shake, shake and then through the air they would fly. Ugggggh. So I was relieved when Elvis bounced at the snake, and the snake hissed and tried to strike at Elvis, so to say the least Elvis had enough sense to leave him alone. He stood back and looked at me as to say, you get it. I was like no..... lets just leave it alone and walk on by, or in this case RUN!

As I was running I was thinking Wow, out of no where, when you least expect! Then my spirit was quicken and God said you were warned. Just like every where you look there are warnings, people just don’t heed! I thought so true we have warning lights, alarms, bells and whistles to alert of us in case of emergency pull this handle ect. Yesterday on the combine, when the hopper would get full a horn would buzz letting Andy know it was time to dump the wheat. He looked at me and said when it goes off three times we are in trouble. How often do we wait until the last warning light, buzzer, alarm before we spring into action?

Our vehicles are designed with lights, bells and gages to warn us of service times, bad sensors, low fuel and engine trouble. How many time have we ignored these warnings? We act surprised when the engine light comes on and we continue to drive, only to be stranded on the side of the road. How many times the gas gage was on E (which doesn’t stand for enough, I learned this the hard way) then we are shocked when we spit, spatter and then go no where. All the signs are there, all the warning are there, but we ignore them and in the long run a $3.00 part may cause us to have to replace a whole engine. Wouldn’t it make more sense to heed to the warnings???

There is another warning people today are ignoring. They have been ignoring it for years. The sad thing is that they have paid a much greater price than that of a blown motor. I am so reminded of the Prophet Jeremiah, the weeping Prophet as he was called. He warned, he cried out, pleaded for the people to repent, to change their life before destruction over took them. But they did not yield to his pleas. Their disobedience, rebellion and pride grieved him intensely. This same scenario has played out over and over again throughout history. Today our heavenly Father grieves when we choose not to listen and be disobedient to his word. You may say Elaine I have heard of the warning of Jesus’ return all my life. Well then if you have heard it all your life then it is getting closer than ever before. Some may say it won’t happen in my life time! How do you know? Your life time could end today. Life is but a vapor! We know not the hour, but do not let this be an excuse. There will be no excuses accepted on that day. You will either hear Welcome in my good and faithful servant or depart from me I know you not. The warning sirens are blowing the watchman on the wall is watching and he is crying out prepare the way of the Lord! He is coming, He is coming! Sneaky snake is waiting for you to become distracted so he can strike, but Jesus said he has made a way of escape for you!

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

Until later……….”Enjoy the little thing in life, because one day you will look back and realize they were the big things”
